What is Comfort Home?

The Comfort Home Program, supported by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), offers eligible homeowners incentives for energy-efficient home upgrades. This initiative helps New Yorkers enhance home comfort, reduce energy costs, and move towards a cleaner energy future.

Incentive Levels

  • Good - $2,500

    • Seal and insulate attic
    • Seal and insulate rim joists

  • Better - $3,000

    • Seal and insulate attic
    • Seal and insulate rim joists
    • Insulate walls + insulate floors

  • Windows Add-On - $2,000

    • Upgrade to ENERGY STAR® windows
    • Available after air-sealing and insulation
    • Average additional 8% energy savings

To qualify for an incentive, the home must meet the conditions of the entire package. The Windows Add-On is available after air-sealing and insulation improvements are completed.

Who Qualifies for Comfort Home?

To be eligible for the Comfort Home Program, homeowners must meet the following criteria:

  • Residency - Must be a homeowner in New York State.

  • Home Type - Own a one-to-four family home.

  • Energy Assessment - Must agree to a no-cost energy assessment by a NYSERDA certified contractor.

  • Package Completion - Must be willing to complete all improvements listed in the chosen incentive package.
